MediaMonkey is more than just a plain audio or video player, it's a smorgasbord. It, yes, plays music and video, but the number of formats is comprehensive. It supports everything that Winamp 3.x can, including all of its plugins, but expands on all of those capabilities. It burns CDs, handles portable media player libraries and syncing.

Probably the best part of MediaMonkey, however, is how fast the built-in tagging, renaming, and library database is. It integrates with online CD databases, so it can download and rename/retag files of any format including album covers, whether ripping or handling an existing database. There's a built-in auto-rating and sorting feature, including playlist creator.

Seriously, there's more to this software than I can explain. Oh, and it's really, really lightweight for a media player.
