An excellent website that helps you compare rates for various things, including loans: This website helps you compare all kinds of rates, including rates for loans to you and rates for you loaning your money out, in the form of money markets. The home page of the website is great, especially for those who want all of their news in one place, as it is the kind of large control panel with all kinds of information. The center of this is the dials along the top, each of which guides you to a place on the site with information on one specific kind of loan. The only thing that I don't like about this website is that sometimes it is a bit too busy, especially given the huge number of advertisements that are on the site. It can be a bit too much for the eyes.
BankRate Site Gives Basic Information: This site is only moderately helpful to the consumer looking for a new mortgage. The mortgage information is quite basic and really doesn't offer much detailed information. It is helpful to be able to see at a glance what mortgage interest rate averages are nationally, but it is not a good source to compare lender rates because the site is basically hawking one or two advertiser's loan products. What I found extremely frustrating was that I wanted some specific rate quotes for my personal situation and was led trhough a series of personal questions and then ended with a message that a lender would be in touch with me - that is not what I wanted. I wanted to be able to shop for a rate online without being bombarded by lender phone calls. This annoyance would prevent me from going back to this site.
