The only negative I find is that you are getting "one opinion" and may not be getting the best deal on what you're looking for. I always suggest checking other sites and the airline site to see how they compare. But overall you can't beat hotwire for ease of use and the volume of information available.
Hotwire the Good and the Bad: There are quite a few good features on this website. The fact that it shows two months when you are about to select your flight dates is an excellent feature. Also it tells you the off peak days. The only problem with this pop-up calender is that I can't see a close button or link on it. However I have to say clicking anywhere on the website closes the calender.
What I don't like in the flight section is that the default depart city does not show up automatically. This could be done based on the user's browser string, or ip address. Having this feature means one task is already done for the user.
The "one way" link would be much simpler for the users of it was only a check box as opposed to a link which takes the user to another page, which means more wasted time for the user and more clicking.
The same thing goes for the flexible date search. Even though this is an excellent feature, a simple check box would suffice for most users and for the really fussy users the link could still exist or be renamed to "advance search".
The best thing about this website is the web design. It is clean, simple, fast and looks professional. All the necessary but less frequently used links are at the bottom and out of the way of the user,leaving the main part of the page for the user tasks. The one link I would like to see on the top menu is the "about us" usually customers click that to find out about the company or contact details and etc so it would give users good confidence when they can see such details about a business.
One more thing I would like to see improved is dynamic Java script error messages. So for example if a flight is not selected there is not point of submitting the request and waiting for the server side error message to return. The value of various boxes could easily be checked via JavaScript for more efficient and hence more user friendly web application.
