Lonely planet offers real advice, for real destinations.: I like this site. My first impression was that of a well put together site. It had content which I thought to be relative to the site itself. Very user friendly. I found it to be easy to navigate and I even browsed the forum and found my city to see what they had to say. All good things! I also like when websites put their "search" feature right on their home page. I use this a lot so it makes navigating even easier! On a negative note, I wasn't thrilled about the destination button. A little confusing at first, but once I figured out it was pretty smooth.
Summer Student Europe Traveler: I spent last summer traveling through Europe in between classes. Lonely planet had the most thorough information about destinations sites to see and hidden treasures. The resources I used to find places of interest was more helpful than just doing internet searches, plus other travelers could leave feedback about posts. I found internet cafes, cheap hostels, exotic and familiar foods, art shows and galleries, the best transit and secluded destinations outside the tourist traps. I would highly recommend using Lonely Planet for traveling information, it made my summer.
Great tips and timely articles for travelers: I like this site because they have useful articles about popular travel destinations for the current travel season. They also have a forum where you can talk with other travelers online about your travel destinations and questions. The site is very well-designed, with multiple ways to find the information you need. The design is a very clean, easy to use and attractive layout. There are travel accessories for sale, including discounted travel books and guides, some of which you can digitally download in part if you do not need the whole book. You can also buy backpacks, bags, travel DVDs and books in the shop.
