ok, some stuff is overpriced though. Try searching for REI's stuff on other sites like Amazon if you're buying.

This is the walmart of outdoor gear. Support your local shop instead.. by local!

This site is an excellent resource for camping gear. I find their prices to be very reasonable and the orders arrive very quickly.

I pretty much only wear clothing from REI - it's less "adventure" and more suburbanites in mommy-wagons who want functional clothing and dreams of adventure, but it's still a solid resource for many things, just watch for sales!

Great gear, great customer service, stellar satisfaction guarantee.

While this is certainly not a thrift store, REI has the most consistently hard-wearing, high-quality camping and outdoor sports gear I've yet found. This makes the purchases that are made there more cost-effective than less expensive but lower quality items.

Nearly all of my gear has been purchased here, and one of the main reasons is their satisfaction guarantee: even if you have used the product, if you're not satisfied, it's returnable for a full refund. Few stores even come close.

On top of this, REI is a co-op. If you elect to be a member (and you should - it's $15 one-time), you get a member rebate at the end of the year. If you use their credit card or cash, you get even more back at the end of the year. This makes all of the items essentially "on sale" all the time.

Seriously. This is my favorite store. Enjoy!

Great selection, love the member benefit!: REI is my first (and usually last) stop for snowboarding and camping gear. Great selection and the prices are decent, plus the 10% back at the end of the year is a nice bonus. Cycling is a weak point, but there are many other online options.

Been a customer for many years...: I've been shopping at REI since long before they had a website. They don't always have the lowest prices, but since they're a cooperative, if you buy a membership you'll get a pretty good refund on the items you bought at the end of the year.

Quality stuff with Quality Customer Service: REI has a good selection of gear for all kinds of outdoor activities with a great return policy and good customer service. As a climber, I've bought lots of gear from them. A few items that i wasn't happy with they took back with almost no quesions for a full refund.

An under utilized resource: I love this site. First of all I love that I can buy things online and have it shipped for free to my local REI. It's extremely convenient.

However, my favorite part about the site is the events calendar. REI has a ton of great informational sessions and talks. The events calendar keeps me in the loop.

Good deals on wool socks: REI's store-brand wool socks are some of the most comfortable I've ever worn. No joke. And they are cheap too, all things considered.

They have a web site.
