I like a couple other finance web sites, but at the end of the day Google Finance will tell me all I need to know. It could be better looking, but the trade is it is to the point.
Google Finance Provides Current, Reliable Financial News: Google Finance (Google.com/finance) offers a broad range of current information about the stock market, mutual funds and other investment vehicles, plus up-to-the-minute news affecting the financial markets. The prominent search box at the top of the screen will give current quotes if you enter in the stock's symbol. Top news articles are also available, with links to other related financial updates. Because this is a Google product, you can count on its reliability, integrity and accuracy. I like the easy-to-read simplicity of the site and the graphical representation of the day's Wall Street trading activity. My only suggestion would be to expand the Wall Street graphs to show a two or four-week trading trend.
Google Finance Offers Brief Glimpse of Market: This site looks like it is following Google's underlying philosophy of less is more. I normally agree with that thought process, but this site goes a little too far with that thinking. The information is minimal, and having only the headlines with very little description of what the article is about makes me hesitate clicking on it to read further. I don't like wasting my time clicking on articles that are of no interest or really don't discuss the topic that I'm looking for. I have a somewhat older computer and it takes too long to load an article just to find out that it's not the information I wanted. Google would be better off if they added a descriptive sentence or two, like they do on their search engine, to explain the headline further, then I can decide if I want to take the time to click on it. Also, the site doesn't offer their own content, it just connects me to other financial sites. If I am already reading Bloomberg, CNN News, etc. sites, then why do I need Google Finance? Overall, I just don't see anything unique in their site offerings.
