Ever since I read 'Urban Legends' I wanted a way to get the honest perspective on issues. I use this site to validate the things I get in email and I don't forward anything that doesn't get checked first on this site. I bookmarked this site so I can hit it quickly while in my email.

Invaluable: Debunks 99.44% of the chain letters emailed me to me by family.

It's the Mythbusters of the Internet.

Definitive reference!: According to urban legend, snopes.com should be your first stop to verify some of those preposterous emails that pop up from time to time.

A must have reference: I can't tell you how many times I've sent Snopes links to friends and family who have forwarded along some email scam. The site is easy to search and the pages are fairly clean so I've even managed to teach a couple of my non-technical friends how to search this site before forwarding along another useless email. :)

Get the real facts with sources!: I love that Snopes cites references for their findings. Their articles are in-depth and balanced (important when reporting on political issues). In a world where it's so easy to spread misinformation, Snopes is a reliable friend.

The go-to site for debunking idiotic emails: I'm so tired of people sending me emails about some government bill that doesn't exist or rampant organ-stealing. Snopes.com is my go-to site for checking on the validity of these claims. There's enough scary stuff in this world already without people spreading lies, so I heartily recommend Snopes as a place to debunk the fearful myths.
