I love Steam. I am an avid downloader but sometimes, if you have the disposable income steam is just easier. Plus I do like to support a game I love, otherwise they might stop making games.
Also I find I always end up losing game discs and I am more likely to lose a disc than steam is to go out of business, so I feel its a better investment than owning the physical copy.
Steam is the greatest place ever to get games for your PC. Not only are they regularly cheaper on Steam due to no physical disc or packaging that you're purchasing, but every week 2 new games are on sale (Midweek Madness and the Weekend Deal). It's simply the best place for your PC gaming needs!
Looking for updates on games? You came to the *WRONG* place!: I loved the idea of not having to deal with anymore physical media for games. I like the idea of having the game anywhere I go. But when I bought Call of Duty:World at War from Steam, I soon realized the mistake I made. This has been the second patch to be released by Activation on the game. Twice already we Steam customers have had to wait countless days before *WE* could be updated. They have *NO* updates on their process nor any type of notification on what's going on. I will never buy a game from Steam again.
