The National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) is one of three discipline-oriented environmental data centers operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NODC ensures that oceanographic data collected at great cost (by federal, state, local, & foreign government agencies, universities, and private industry) is preserved and maintained in a permanent archive where they are available for use by scientists, resource managers, planners, and others. NODC holds physical, chemical, and biological oceanographic data from coastal and deep ocean areas.
