We moved to Germany, hauling 100 movie dvds with us. That's when we learned about region codes on dvd players! So frustrating that the manufacturers do this ridiculous code thing. After searching the internet for a solution, I came across DVD Exploder site. I figured $15 wasn't too much to risk. This gave me access to 1,000's of dvd codes (who knew there were so many players!). Unfortunately the dvd in our furnished apt. wasn't listed. I contacted them & received a very courteous & grateful email from the company that they'd research it but couldn't give me an exact time frame.(didn't want me frustrated, tho I was a little) I actually bought some movies on Amazon UK just so I could watch on the tv/dvd player b/c they were Region 2 (USA is Region 1). We ended up getting another dvd player in German for xmas. Philips DVP3850. That code wasn't there either (arrghh!!) ...HOWEVER...they sent me a 'boilerplate' code and said to give it a try. HOT DANG & HALLELUJAH! It took about 2 min. for me to figure out the 4 steps and VOILA!! I was watching "Tangled" w/my son! I could kiss you guys!!! THANK YOU!!! Now I can have my computer back & plop said child in front of the tv for a movie! My hubbie is quite pleased too, as the dvd player was his christmas gift to me ;)
