This is a very cool website with lots of fun stuff to look at and buy. Also, if you're the type to be kitschy, creatvie, crafty, or even entrepreneurial, then this might be a great outlet for your creations. Have a blast!!
Not sure if I agree with the review that says Etsy is an unknown site. As an Etsy seller of functional pottery that also does art shows, I have found a relatively high percentage of people who are familiar with the site. Etsy has been my first venture into on-line selling and I have found the Etsy community to be very helpful. There is a huge variety of handmade items available ranging from DIY crafts to fine art. If there is a downside to Etsy, it is the volume of items available and the effort it takes both for sellers to stay visible to the buying public and the time it takes consumers to find/choose items. On the other hand, communication that occurs between the buyer and seller often serves to make the transaction seem very personal. To me this makes buying on Etsy a different type of on-line purchase experience both as a buyer and a seller.
Support the little guy: This is a great way to support the "mom and pop" stores of the web. Some of the people who sell here make brilliant and beautiful stuff. Vintage, handmade, stationary, jewelery, craft kits, you name it . . . I gave it four instead of five stars because you have to wade through a lot of stuff to find the real gems.
If you like artsy stuff, this is your place to search for stuff to buy: Etsy.com is an excellent website that sells only handmade items, in a similar way to Amazon marketplace. The website has everything from fancy woodwork and handmade furniture to glass objects, toys, and dolls. The prices are good for most items and just about everything is very high quality, even though the website itself does not monitor what is sold. The only thing that I don't like about this website is that customer support is horrible and if you do happen to buy something from a bad seller, you have no recourse because the company that runs the website takes a very hands-off view on the market.
Sell your handmade products online: Etsy allows you to sell your hand made products online. It's well set out and the pictures are clear. It also has a buy local section which is a great way of supporting local communities. Anyone can sign up to the site easily and be ready to sell your hand made products the same day. The 20 cents to list an item for four months is very reasonable and it's a good way to promote your own products. Sellers can also set up their own stores. The website itself could use a little more color and they offer limited payment options but apart from that it is a good site,

Etsy is a great place to showcase your talents and get paid for it.: Etsy is a wonderful place to showcase your talents and sell your items. It is a place where you can list handmade items that you make for a living or a hobby and sell them to people. The fees are very reasonable and it is almost like ebay except there is no bidding, just purchase the item. The only problem I have with this site is that it is very unknown not many people know about it because honestly how often do you go shopping on the internet and type in homemade items for sale. I think it should be advertised a lot more especially for the sake of the sellers. It is easy to use, wonderful helpful forums and fun place to shop for unique items. Very nice site Etsy is.
