SourceForge ist what the name promises: : works shop and (wishing)well of an enormous amount of software for any thinkable purpose.

Best source of open-source software in existence: Largest directory and repository of open source software on the interwebs, it has a huge community of both users and developers. It also serves as a host for software projects, including svn repositories, forums, and much more.

Great source for software information.: This website is different than any other I've been to. It lets you creat projects which is pretty cool. It's pretty hard to navigate, though.
